The Prospector's Ride *2021!

ANNOUNCEMENT 25th November 2020
Dear Riders,

It’s certainly been a journey re the 10 day ride and we haven’t even left camp yet. The 2020 ride has rolled over into 2021 as a result of Covid.
This is a short update to inform you of the dates for next years ride, these are the FINAL dates. We have had to navigate around the Covid-19 issues and the changing nature of travel within Australia next year and venue demands by the wider public looking to holiday at home.
We had been aiming to have the ride in Victoria in the last week of the school holidays in September, however we were advised not too. Bookings are looking solid throughout Victoria next year as people travel internally as a result of Covid.
Our dates are designed to give us greater choice re venues and crowd capacity at venues. We are still on target to have 150 riders.
Our ride will commence at Lansborough ( as planned originally ) on Wednesday, 6th of October, which will be arrival day. Thursday will be the first day of riding. We will then move onto Moonambel followed by Dunolly. The ride will conclude on Saturday 16th of October and everyone will head off home the next day.
All riders who have paid and not requested a refund will be automatically accepted. The expression of interest form will be circulated in Feb/March next year to all parties to check everyone’s intention to attend, plus sound out new people who wish to attend. Many new people have asked can they attend.
The expression of interest form will set out greater detail about the ride and cost for the 2021 ride. Yes we are still holding riders payments from this years ride and they are accounted for. Don’t worry.
We are planning a great format for the 2021 ride and it will be social and entertaining for you all.
We look forward to keeping you informed and eventually getting you to the starting line in October 2021.

Initial Ride Details
Next year's ride be for horse riders and also cater for horse drawn carts. The event will be held within the Victorian regional area known as the Golden Triangle, located in central/west of Victoria, in the heart of gold mining country of the last century. The locality is at the southern end of the Great Dividing Ranges and encompasses an area of 9,400 square kilometres.
The township of Landsborough and Moonambel where we will spend the first and second stages of the ride are in the shadows of the Pyrenees Ranges, with beautiful scenery and well known for their local wineries. The final stage of the ride will take us to Dunolly, where the history of Gold mining is very evident and at Moliagul the Welcome Stranger Gold nugget was found in 1869 weighing 66kg, which at the time was the biggest in the world.

On the basis of the ride's location and historical recognition of the past, we have given this year's 10DayRide the title of "The Prospector's Ride" in recognition of the many hopeful souls who tramped across this countryside in hope of finding their fortune. We will have the luxury of doing it on horseback.
Rides will vary between 18-28kms per day with plenty of bush tracks on offer. You will need to be self-sufficient for you and your horse for most of the ride.

Daily morning musters will be held to communicate the day's events with raffles, sausage sizzles, dinner dance and many other activities being held throughout the event, all of which you will be further detailed on the itinerary. We also have a few surprises this year to be announced closer to the event. Further, the townships have some great country hotels which we will frequent throughout the ride.
